Britain’s Got Talent 2012: David Walliams consulted Michael McIntyre for advice

Michael McIntyre

New Britain's Got Talent 2012 judge David Walliams sought advice from his predecessor Michael McIntyre, it has been revealed.

Speaking at the National Television Awards last night, Michael explained how he and the Little Britain comic had tea and discussed the show ahead of last week's auditions.

Michael left the series last autumn after just one year on the show in order to focus on his stand up, with a new arena tour this year.

He said: "I had tea with David Walliams at Claridges and he'll be brilliant. He was very charming and media savvy and we had a nice chat."

And it sounds as though David has been enjoying his time judging already, saying: "I can't believe you get paid to do Britain's Got Talent, it's so much fun, you just have to react.

"Simon Cowell is a naughty man, he really is hilarious. Everyone asks me if he is gay."

Britain’s Got Talent 2012 will air on ITV1 this April.
