Ant McPartlin set to host Britain’s Got Talent 2019 as ITV ‘clears his TV comeback’

Ant and Dec will reportedly reunite in January following extended break

Ant McPartlin will reportedly make his TV comeback on Britain’s Got Talent 2019 after ITV bosses cleared him to return to work.

Ant has been off our screens since April while seeking treatment in the wake of his drink driving scandal.

His extended break from the spotlight left presenting partner Dec Donnelly to make alternative arrangements for their regular gigs.

Dec has hosted Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain’s Got Talent on his own, and teamed up with Holly Willoughby on I’m A Celebrity.

Now, with a new series of BGT looming, it seems the popular duo are finally about to reunite.

According to The Sun, ITV chiefs have cleared Ant to resume working in January, when the Simon Cowell talent contest will begin production on its auditions.

“Ant has completed his recovery and ITV has decided he is ready to be back at work for Britain’s Got Talent filming,” the newspaper’s source said.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult two-year period but he has been entirely focused on turning his life around.

“ITV is very excited about Ant and Dec being reunited – but Ant’s recovery has been everyone’s first priority.”

The broadcaster has been adamant that Ant would only make his comeback when ready.

In August, its chief executive Carolyn McCall said: “He will come back when he’s well. ITV will not be putting him under any pressure.”

ITV and Ant’s representatives are yet to confirm the story.

The Geordie duo will have a reduced workload in 2019 after Takeaway was rested for a year.

Therefore, once filming on BGT’s auditions wraps, they won’t be back in action until its live shows air in May.

Ant is also due to return to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! next year following Holly’s temporary stint as his replacement.

Her performance has won rave reviews from viewers and helped the jungle show achieve some of its highest ratings ever.
