Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams is will front a revival of Blankety Blank this Christmas.

The Celebrity game show hasn't been on our screens now for over a decade, last airing in 2002 with host Paul O'Grady as his alter ego Lily Savage.

Before that, the late Sir Terry Wogan and Les Dawson fronted the series which aired across 4 decades from its debut in 1979.

ITV have confirmed this week that the one-off episode will be broadcast on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, at 6:30PM.

It's part of a strong line up for ITV on the evening, with Coronation Street, Birds Of A Feather, Granchester and Through The Keyhole following.

While it's just a one-off special for now, sources say it's success could pave the way for a full series.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Blankety Blank was such a huge hit in the 80s and ITV bosses want to replicate that success.

"They think David Walliams is a perfect fit for the show with his camp and playful humour.

“The Christmas show will be a trial but if it proves a hit there is sure to be a series in 2017.”

Blankety Blank with David Walliams, Boxing Day, ITV, 6:30PM.
