Britain's Got Talent 2016 ended with a whimper last night with the lowest rated final EVER in its ten year history.
It has been a landmark tenth series of the show and although ratings were high for the auditions stage, they dipped this week for the live shows.
Unusually, the week of semi-finals didn't air in the half-term weekend which may well have knocked figures.
Last night's final, airing on the Bank Holiday Weekend, was BGT's least watched ever.
A grand peak audience of 10.5 million were watching ITV as the result was announced.
The final live show between 7:30PM and 10PM averaged 8.45 million viewers which very is actually one of the lowest ratings of the whole series, beaten by many of the audition episodes.
Indeed, back during the auditions this year's BGT viewing figures were the best in seven years and made the show 2016's most watched to date.
Last night's final figure is BGT's worst in history by some margin, down almost 3 MILLION viewers on last year and down close to 2 million viewers on the previous lowest rating.
It's quite disappointing number for what was arguably one of BGT's best finals.
Not only did we see a bumper crop of 12 finalists there were also amazing performances from Louisa Johnson and a special reunion between BGT's biggest acts from the past ten years.
Still, the series will be back next year and we'll all be tuning in again!
