Britain's Got Talent 2016 finalist Wayne Woodward had an epileptic fit following his live performance.
It was reported during the week that Wayne had collapsed backstage following the semi-final and was rushed to hospital.
While Wayne, who topped the public vote after singing That's Life, had originally been said to have simply suffered exhaustion it was actually rather more serious.
Explaining to the Daily Mirror, Wayne recalled: “At first people thought I was just mucking about, as if to say, ‘phwoar, I’m glad that’s over’.
“Luckily there was a paramedic nearby who realised it was serious and he put me on one side. I was foaming at the mouth."
After coming to, Wayne was taken to hospital for a check up and tests on his brain.
“I was worried I was going be diagnosed with epilepsy and I wouldn’t be able to sing properly or perform in the final," Wayne revealed. “It has knocked my confidence, I’m scared it’s going to happen again in front of all those people.
“But nothing’s going to stop me now, even if I have to leave every show in an ambulance. I have been working for this for so long, I’m not going to give up when I’m so close to my dream.”
Following subsequent visits to the doctors, Wayne has been given the all clear to perform tonight.
He said: "The doctor came back and said there was still a little bit of electrical activity in my brain, but that was from the from the previous seizure and my brain reacted normally to the light test.
“That was such a relief. I hadn’t slept for a couple of days because I was so worried."
The Britain's Got Talent 2016 live final airs tonight on ITV from 7:30PM.
