Britain's Got Talent 2016: Kathleen Jenkins set for Katherine Jenkins duet

Britain's Got Talent 2016 singer Kathleen Jenkins has been invited to perform with Katherine Jenkins.

Welsh performer Kathleen appeared on Britain's Got Talent at the weekend, wowing the judges with her performance of Wild Horses.

Simon Cowell told her: "I've been waiting for you."

However there has been a little confusion over her name, very similar to that of fellow Welsh performer Katherine Jenkins.

Now Katherine herself has spoke out about Kathleen's performance, saying: “Like most of Wales and it seems the whole of the UK, I loved Kathleen’s performance of Wild Horses on Saturday night’s BGT.

“I love her dad, too. Such a proud father. Wonderful to see him so emotional when speaking of his daughter’s awesome voice.”

Katherine added to The Sun newspaper: “I’m doing a Christmas tour and as Kathleen is a rising star, it’ll be great for her to come and sing one of her songs.”

Speaking to the tabloid, Kathleen admitted she's often confused for the singer, especially when working in her part time job at Pontins' holiday parks.

Kathleen enthused: "I’d love to meet Katherine Jenkins — it would be amazing.

“We’re both from Wales and have similar names. Sometimes at Pontins where I’d occasionally sing, they’d say my name and someone would think it was going to be her.”

Kathleen got four yeses from the judges at the weekend to sail through the next round of the competition.

She now has a tense wait to find out if she's made it through to the live semi-finals at the end of the next month.

Britain's Got Talent 2016 continues Saturday nights on ITV.
