Wicked star Idina Menzel has praised Beau Dermott's Britain's Got Talent audition.

12-year-old Beau was a stand out from last weekend's show, belting out Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked to stun the judges and live audience.

"Oh my God, you were so, so, so amazing. I am so excited for you, you were brilliant," gushed Amanda Holden after hitting the golden buzzer, sending Beau straight through to the live shows.

"We were not expecting that," declared Simon Cowell. "That's how you do it."

"Everyone else might as well go home, you're incredible," concluded David Walliams.

More than 7 million have now tuned in watch Beau's audition online including original star of Wicked, Idina Menzel.

Idina, who also provides the voice for Elsa in Frozen, won a Tony award for her role of Elphaba in the musical back in 2003.

The actress and singer tweeted this week: "OMG!! Beau Dermott you gave me chills with your performance of Defying Gravity."

Beau tweeted Idina back: "Thank you so so much! You are my inspiration :)"

Following her audition last Saturday, Beau has been offered the chance to visit the West End production of Wicked.

The youngster revealed this week: “Wicked have invited me down. Being involved in it in some way would be a real dream come true."

She added to The Sun: “On a scale of ten, how excited am I? Ten! I would have to pinch myself if it happened. I’d like to play Elphaba. I’ve seen it five times. It’s my favourite.”

Britain's Got Talent 2016 continues this Saturday night on ITV from 8PM.
