Britain's Got Talent 2016 star Alexandr Magala has cut his LUNG while performing his sword-swallowing routines, he's revealed.
Tonight's opening episode of the ITV talent contest saw Alex perform an acrobatic routine with swords down his throat, concluding with him climbing to the top of a ceiling-height pole and dropping all the way to the bottom head-first.
The terrifying stunt had the audience covering their eyes and the stand-by medics feeling queasy, with Alex admitting that he risks his life for his act.
And the 26-year-old confessed to The Mirror that he has suffered serious internal cuts as a result of his highly dangerous act.
'My first show that I did, America’s Got Talent... I wasn’t really experienced and it was in the round of quarter finals when I was really pushing myself," he explained.
"I cut myself really really bad inside, and one time I punctured my oesophagus."
At the press launch for the new series earlier this week, the judges spoke about their reactions to Alexandr's performance.
"It really was scary… he could have died. Simon (Cowell) would have liked if he’d died just for the headlines, but no, unfortunately he survived," joked David Walliams.
"He puts his life on the line and he made that very very clear," added Alesha Dixon.
Alex won four yesses from the panel and could now make it to the live finals. However, his involvement has stirred up some controversy, as he has previously been a contestant on no less than FOUR other series of Got Talent.
The Moldovan has appeared on the American, French and Mexican versions of the show, and has even won the Russian version.
Britain's Got Talent 2016 continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
