Britain's Got Talent 2014 winner will be British, predicts Simon Cowell

The winner of Britain's Got Talent this year will be a Brit, Simon Cowell has predicted.

The music mogul has always encouraged foreign acts to apply with last year's show being won by Hungarian shadow dancers Attraction.

But this year is the year of the Brits, or so Simon reckons.

"It is going to be a really good year. There are better singers this year, a couple I would have liked on The X Factor," he teased. “[But] I am like a magnet to the wacky people.

“For whatever reason when I am on the show they tend to all turn up. But it is part of the fun.”

The BGT and X Factor boss continued: “This year I would be amazed if someone who isn’t British wins, I am not saying they won’t be in the final, but the clear favourites are going to be the Brits.

Earlier this week Simon defended Britain’s Got Talent for often featuring foreign acts, including last series winners Attraction.

He said: “If I’m honest with you I love the fact that people from other countries enter this show as it’s actually a compliment that they don’t want to do it in their own countries because they feel that Britain’s Got Talent is the best world showcase.

“But obviously, because I’m British, I would prefer a Brit winning.”

Britain's Got Talent 2014 kicks off this Saturday night from 7:15PM on ITV.
