Britain's Got Talent's Simon Cowell shares baby photos

Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has shared some pictures of his newborn son.

The music mogul raced some 3,500 miles from London across to New York for the birth last Friday evening, which was two weeks before the expected date.

“It has all been a bit of a race against time to be honest," a friend told the Daily Mirror newspaper at the time. “Normally when a dad-to-be gets a call, there are a few miles down the road - not on the other side of the Atlantic.”

The rush saw Simon final round round of Britain's Got Talent auditions being held at the Hammersmith Apollo yesterday.

David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were informed of the news by a message from the BGT boss which read: “I’m sorry I can’t be here today. My son has decided to arrive early. You all have a big responsibility to find some great talent today without me.”

Simon's baby boy with Lauren Silverman was eventually born a 10:42PM last night (UK time) on Friday evening and has been named Eric, after Simon's dad.

Tweeting pictures of the pair together last night, Simon wrote online: "I never knew how much love and pride I would feel."

He added: "Mum, Dad and Eric. Now two days old"

Simon's fellow BGT judges were quick to offer their congrats, with David Walliams joking: "Huge congratulations to @SimonCowell and Lauren Silverman on the birth of their son. They have named him David Sinitta Louis-Walsh Cowell."

And hosts Ant and Dec revealed this week that becoming a dad hasn’t softened the tough reality telly judge.

Dec said: “If anything, it’s made him grumpier!

“I don’t know why, but maybe he’s afraid of becoming too soft now he’s facing parenthood.”

Meanwhile bookies are offering odds of 1/4 that little Eric goes on to work for Syco and evens that he becomes a judge on a talent show like his father.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "When it comes to Eric following in his father's footsteps, all bets are off. The odds suggest he's much more likely to sniff out hit singles when he grows up instead of topping the charts himself."
