David Walliams apparently 'saved Simon Cowell's life' during Britain's Got Talent 2014 auditions at the weekend.
Simon and David were in Birmingham along with Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon when the music mogul began to choke on one of his famous mints.
Amanda was quick to thumb Simon on the back to dislodge the rogue polo before David performed the Heimlich manoeuvre on the BGT boss with success.
A supposed BGT insider explained: "In between watching auditions, Simon was enjoying a mint — when all of a sudden it must have got lodged in his throat.
"As soon as David noticed Simon was in trouble he leapt up from his chair.
“He put his all into giving him the Heimlich manoeuvre, but seemed to enjoy it a little too much."
The source told The Sun today: "Simon, on the other hand looked uneasy — although he was grateful to David for helping him out.”
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, another source added: “Thankfully the mint got dislodged and Simon was able to continue but he was a bit flustered for the next few auditions. He owes David his life now!”
Simon's accident follows a second near miss when he took part in a knife throwing act on stage.
The record label chief became an eleven-year-old's trusty assistant and posed against a wooden board while the youngster flung metal knives at him.
The first knife thrown was a safe distance from Cowell and went straight into the board. However, after the second knife was a near miss and flung to the floor, Simon decided to count his losses, shaking the boys hand and making a swift exit.
Amanda excitedly said "You nearly killed Simon".
The BGT auditions will air on ITV in the Spring.
