Britain's Got Talent 2013: Maarty Broekman is a legend in the Netherlands (apparently)

Britain's Got Talent 2013 auditions - Maarty Broekman

Wacky Britain's Got Talent 2013 singer Maarty Broekman has claimed he's become a legend in the Netherlands after his audition!

The 24 year old lives in London, but originates from the Netherlands.

We saw him performing his own track 'Backdoor Lover' with a keytar at the weekend, and scrape through to the next round.

A not too impressed Simon Cowell told him: “Maarty I can honestly tell you by a clear mile that is the worst song I have heard in 7 years. I mean seriously, seriously terrible.

"I mean everything about it. From the ridiculous instrument, the horrible lyrics, the terrible singing, the awful costume. Horrendous.”

But Maarty had fans in Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden, with Amanda telling him: “It was like some kind of winning song from the Eurovision Song contest and I loved it.”

Now into the next round, it's a wait for Maarty to see if he'll make it through to next week's live shows, but even if he doesn't it sounds like his audition alone has given him some new found fame.

"I get a nice reaction from Netherlands too , they say I'm a legend, haha," he told us this week. "If I go through [to the live shows], my friends and family say they'll come over."
