Britain's Got Talent 2013 star Alex Keirl has revealed he wants to be a popstar, rather than follow a career into musical theatre.

The 20-year-old wowed the judges on Saturday night's latest audition show with a performance of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables.

“That was a great vocal performance. You have a very, very powerful instrument and you have a really lovely ethereal quality about your voice and you pitched that perfectly. Well done,” Alesha Dixon told him.

But despite the song choice, Alex wants a pursue a pop career, and the song he has planned for the live shows if gets through will show a very different side to him.

He told us exclusively: "My aim is to be in the music industry, not in musician theatre"

Alex explained: "If I was to put my album out it'd be a really modern music, I really like upbeat songs, but I also like power ballads so it'd be a mix."

Alex was turned away from both The X Factor and The Voice in the past and now hopes BGT will finally give him a platform to launch from.

He added: "Britain's Got Talent is such a great show, I've been singing for so many years, so let's go!"
