The 20-year-old wowed the judges on Saturday night's latest audition show with a performance of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables.
“That was a great vocal performance. You have a very, very powerful instrument and you have a really lovely ethereal quality about your voice and you pitched that perfectly. Well done,” Alesha Dixon told him.
And Simon Cowell added: “Alex yeah, I echo what the others said. My only reservation was whether it was just a little bit too high. I mean it was just you know, how I personally felt about the song.”
Speaking to us exclusively today, Alex revealed that - like fellow BGT competitor Alice Fredenham - he too had been shunned by The Voice.
But while Alice at least went before the coaches, Alex didn't even get through the early rounds.
He told us: "I did X Factor and I made it to see the judges, I didn't get through and it didn't get aired... thank god!
"I applied for The Voice, didn't get through... not even to see the coaches."
Alex was also turned away from The X Factor back in 2010, with Simon Cowell saying he wasn't ready.
Now he's keen to show what he can do on Got Talent, saying: "Britain's Got Talent is such a great show, I've been singing for so many years, so let's go!"
