The Voice 2013 closes rating gap on Britain's Got Talent 2013

The Voice UK 2013 has continued to close the gap on Britain's Got Talent in the ratings.

The BBC One series launched last month with a rather average 6.3 million viewers, but has gained momentum over the past five weeks.

Last night saw the show get its fourth consecutive ratings boost, as just under 8 million watched the penultimate audition show.

The later time slot saw an average audience of 7.97 million viewers - and a peak audience of 8.9 million - tuned in to see the latest try outs, up 50,000 viewers on last week's previous series high.

However the show remains considerably down on last year's run, and with the auditions over next weekend, it'll be interesting to see whether or not the ratings continue to climb.

Over on ITV and the third instalment of Britain's Got Talent auditions interested 9.31 million viewers, flat on last week's ratings.

Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams returned for yet more weird and wacky try outs, and it seems they're keeping viewers wanting more.

Including viewers on ITV+1, just under 10 million viewers watched BGT last night, with a peak of well over 11 million viewers.

Both The Voice and Britain’s Got Talent continue next Saturday night on BBC One and ITV respectively.
