Alesha Dixon has defended Britain's Got Talent 2013 against claims that its auditions are full of singers.
BGT boss Simon Cowell, who is back on the panel alongside Alesha this year, is apparently unhappy with the amount of singers auditioning.
“Cowell took the producers to one side and warned them that they are not making another singing show like The X Factor,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “Britain’s Got Talent is all about variety so he demanded a lot more magicians, dancers and comics to spice things up.
“Cowell is under serious pressure to get this right after The X Factor’s disastrous ratings.
“Being back on the panel himself is an added pressure because he doesn’t want to be seen on a flop show.”
But Alesha, a singer herself, claimed Simon only had himself to blame!
"I think naturally a lot people are going to sing because they want to sing in front of Simon," she told us.
Speaking to us at the launch of this year's BGT auditions in London this week, Alesha added: "I'm happy with the variety we've seen so far
"It's really exciting, I think we're coming off the back of the best year Britain has ever had... I think it's been a great variety, I've seen a ventriloquist act I really liked."
And fellow judge Amanda Holden agreed, although she's had enough of
She said: "I don't mind singers, but not ones who have been dumped, so come and sing if you're happily married or in a relationship!"
The West End star added: “We’ve had Aerialists, Rollerskaters, we’ve had load of variety”
