Rumoured Celebrity Big Brother 2011 housemate Amy Childs has said she wants to change people's perceptions of her. The 21-year-old told buzz magazine this weekend that she wanted to show viewers she wasn't as "thick" as made out on The Only Way Is Essex.

Amy confessed: I do think people underestimate, but I'm going to change that.

"The thing is on TOWIE, they are making a TV show they edit stuff to make it funny. That's what they did in series one when Kirk took me to the zoo for a date. It looked like I didn't know what an elephant was. Or a giraffe. It made me look so thick!

"I do know what an elephant is. But I don’t know the capital of Pakistan."

Amy, who is set to enter the house when Celebrity Big Brother airs for the first time on Channel 5 later this month, also revealed she was a top girl in school, despite having to cope with dyslexia.

"I went to a private school but I struggled at first," Amy tells the magazine. "When I was four I found out that I was dyslexic and that I have a really bad short-term memory. But I was a good pupil. I always did my homework and the teachers said I was a pleasure to work with.

"I loved sitting at the front of the class - I wanted to learn and would always speak up."

And the Essex babe added: "I can became head girl when I was 11. People don't believe me when I tell them that. Can you believe it?!"

Amy quit The Only Way Is Essex to take up a reported £250,000 offer to join Big Brother. Other stars set for the celebrity house include Kerry Katona and Jedward.

Celebrity Big Brother 2011 starts on August 18.
