Is former MP and 'I'm A Celebrity...' star Lembit Öpik set for Celebrity Big Brother?

Lembit Opik

Daily Star journalist Peter Dyke has hinted that one of this year's Celebrity Big Brother housemates is an former MP who lost his seat in the 2010 election, with ex-Lib Dem Lembit Öpik being the name currently being thrown around. The 46-year-old last year took part in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here so is more than up for reality telly.

Unfortunately for him however, Lembit lasted just 13 days in the Aussie jingle before becoming the second person to be eliminated by the public.

Lembit has also appeared on shows including Celebrity The Apprentice, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Celebrity Come Dine With Me and Celebrity Juice.

He's also found himself in the papers over his girlfriends, having dated Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia and ITV1 weather girl Siân Lloyd, with both relationships ending in messy breakups.

Peter Dyke teased: "Which celeb will def get more votes from the public to be evicted than they did to become an MP in 2010?"

Lembit received just under 13,000 votes in the 2010 elections to lose his Montgomeryshire seat after more than 10 years, having been first elected back in 1997.

Other rumoured celebrities for this year’s series include Imogen Thomas, Natasha Giggs and X Factor duo Jedward.

Brian Dowling will host the new look show, which debuts on Channel 5 next month, while Emma Willis will take charge of new spin off Big Brother's Bit On The Side.
