Big Brother makers Endemol in talks with TV3 to air the show in Ireland

Big Brother programme makers Endemol are in talks with Irish telly channel TV3 in the hope of getting the reality hit aired in Ireland. With Channel 5 availability restricted in the country, show bosses want the new series to reach as many viewers as possible when it returns next month.

Auditions for the latest run were extended to include the Republic of Ireland earlier this year, although open audition venues only took place within the UK.

An exec at TV3 confirmed: “We are in negotiations. If we do get it, it’s more likely to be screened on our digital channel 3e, rather than TV3 itself.

“Endemol own the rights, so we have to negotiate more with them,” added Ben Frow, the channel's director of programming.

Celebrity Big brother stars on Channel 5 next month.
