Barbara Windsor denies offer for "too personal" Celebrity Big Brother

Former EastEnders actress Barbara Windsor has denied that she has been offered a place on this year's Celebrity Big Brother, describing the show as "too personal" for her to take part in. The 73-year-old soap actor insisted she wouldn't be taking part in any reality show - despite plenty of interest from programme makers.

We reported last week Babs was tipped to enter the house to cure her boredom, saying at the time: "Being at home is driving me mad. When I was working I was up early and filming all day and I knew where I was."

However speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the veteran actress insisted: “No, I haven’t been offered a place on Celebrity Big Brother! Can you imagine me in there? It’s too personal. I’ve got all my bits and pieces to sort out in the morning now. I couldn’t do that!”

She joked that husband Scott Mitchell had put herself forward for the show just “to get her out of [his] way”.

Revealing she had been offered spots on rival reality series, such as I'm A Celebrity and Strictly Come Dancing, Barbara said she'd never take up such invitations.

“I understand why people do it in our business, you’ve got to earn a few quid. But it’s only when things aren’t going well," she said.

Celebrity Big Brother 2011 airs on Channel 5 this August.
