Celebrity Big Brother 2018 could feature an 'all women' line up, according to sketchy reports.
It's been claimed that show producers are considering a special series when the show returns in January.
The Sun reports that the women-led cast would be part of a season of programmes marking 100 years since women won the right to vote.
A supposed TV source told the tabloid: “Channel 5 wants to make a real splash as part of their women’s vote celebrations.
“They are keen to cast opinionated women like Germaine Greer over no-mark reality TV girls who look good but have little to say or bring to the conversation.
“Bosses are expecting cat fights galore, plenty of tension and clashing personalities.”
We're fairly sceptical of the rumour, especially the concept of Channel 5 ditching reality stars although that would definitely be a welcome change.
While exact plans for next year's Big Brother remain unconfirmed, Peter Salmon - Big Brother programme maker Endemol's Chief Creative Officer - is quoted as saying that Big Brother would definitely be getting a face lift in 2018.
"Big Brother has got to last. You have to roll your sleeves up and renew it for a different generation," he explained. “It is having a tougher competitive time in the UK but it’s huge around the world.
“Love Island has been sensational. If Big Brother is not on top form, we have to keep changing it.”
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival back in August, Channel 5's current boss Ben Frow spoke candidly about the show's future.
On Big Brother being renewed beyond 2018, the end of its current contract, Frow admitted it was still up in the air.
"We're going to have a discussion about it. I need to know, like I would with any commission, what are the plans for the future? How will it be creatively renewed? How is it still important to me?" he explained.
He added: "It's a very established brand, a very successful brand but there's a big shiny new show on the block called Love Island. We need to take a good long look at Big Brother and go what does it look like for the future?"
Celebrity Big Brother will air in January in 2018.
