Celebrity Big Brother 2017's All Stars series could be the longest run yet

Celebrity Big Brother 2017 could be the longest series ever with another record breaking run.

Celebrity Big Brother has been getting progressively longer over the years with last January's run the longest yet at 32 days.

However schedule information provided by Channel 5 suggests that the new series will air for 40 episodes.

That total will include instances where there are two live shows on the same night, such as Friday evictions, but it still means the new series could be the longest so far.

The information does however contradict previous details about the show, as posted in information to advertisers, that the series would run for 24 days. This would make it the shortest series in four years.

Given the confirmed All Stars v New Stars theme, together with the bigger house thanks to last year's extension, we'd put our money on the longer run being more likely.

Of course as we've seen in past years, the series may well get longer or shorter half-way through the run depending on how well (or not) things go inside the house.

Yesterday the official Celebrity Big Brother 2017 start date was confirmed with the new series kicking off with its live launch at 9PM, Tuesday, January 3. There host Emma Willis will introduce us to the new Celebrity Big Brother line up, made up of both returning housemates and new faces.

At 11:05PM, Rylan Clark-Neal will be back to host Bit On The Side while at midnight there will be live streaming. The show then continues nightly at 9PM ahead of the first eviction scheduled for Friday, January 6.

The Friday shows will be split into two parts, airing at 9PM and 10:30PM, with a new series of Lip Sync Battle UK sandwiched inbetween.
