In the wake of the confirmation that Big Brother will be back on UK telly on Channel 5 this summer, the Daily Star newspaper has launched a competition that will see one reader enter the house. The paper, which shares an owner with the channel, will place golden tickets in its weekday issues in the run up to the return of programme.
The contest will see 60 golden tickets placed in the tabloid in the two weeks prior to the launch of the series this September, with those who find them being invited to audition for the show. Of the 60, one will be chosen to enter the Big Brother house as a fully fledged housemate!
A source told the newspaper: "This offers the chance of winning a genuine life-changing opportunity for the price of a Daily Star. We reckon the nation will go Big Brother barmy. This has got to be the most astonishing prize ever offered by a newspaper."
A similar competition in 2006 saw golden tickets put into packets of Kit Kats, with one random recipient of a ticket entering the Big Brother 7 house. Channel 5 Programmes Director Jeff Ford said about this new twist: “We’re hugely excited.”
