The X Factor's Cheryl Cole is to host a 'new look' series of Big Brother on Channel 5, according to tabloid reports. The Daily Star claim that Geordie Cole will leave Simon Cowell "furious" by leaving the UK's biggest reality show in order to front the return of Big Brother after it was axed from Channel 4 last year.
A source told the paper BB bosses at Channel Five, who are thought to have brought the rights to the reality series from makers Endemol, are keen to get big names on the programme when it returns to screens sometime in the next year.
A telly insider told the newspaper: "It really is true. Big Brother looks certain to return... bigger, brighter and more shocking than ever before.
“As part of that deal we want to get a really big name involved as the host and they don’t come any bigger than Cheryl."
"We’re confident she can be tempted away from Simon with the offer of fronting the most-talked about show of the year. There is going to be a real buzz around Big Brother and we’re confident she will want to be part of that deal.”
The tabloid claims a new celebrity version of the show will air before a return of the summer series. Names in the frame for the new celeb series include Jeremy Clarkson, model Kate Price and Come Fly With Me comic David Walliams, however it seems it's Cheryl the focus is on. "It would be a major coup for the Big Brother show to land Cheryl and programme chiefs have been told to do all in their power to land her, whatever it takes," the insider added.
