Celebrity Big Brother in January could have a brand new twist, according to reports.
The long running reality series will be celebrating its 20th run in 2017 and it was previously reported that an 'all stars' special was being planned.
"Bringing back the celebs they know will cause the drama would result in the most explosive series so far," a source told The Sun. “Usually celebrity housemates brag about how controversial and confrontational they’ll be while being screened by producers before going in, but then nothing happens.
“This way they’ll be no dull moments as they know who’ll be worth their fee.”
However it turns out that it may not be quite that straight forward as the Daily Star claim CBB won't just be featuring a group from past line ups, with new stars in the mix too.
It's been suggested that the new twist would see 'All Stars' v 'New Stars' going head to head, what with the two houses the show has now.
Names on a supposed 'wish list' include recent CBB winner Stephen Bear, professional troll Katie Hopkins, model and Loose Women star Katie Price, US couple Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. and even names from the Channel 4 era including Pete Burns.
A source told the Daily Star : “It’s a genius idea that has never been done before.
“Channel 5 wants to do a show that gives a nod to the past but also has a fresh edge with new people too."
As yet nothing has been confirmed for Celebrity Big Brother next year (it is only September, after all) but Channel 5 boss Ben Frow has announced plans to shake the show up.
Speaking at the Edinburgh International Television Festival in August, he said: "Big Brother is 17 years old, it'll be 18 years old next year, it's still going. I don't want to be the person who kills Big Brother...
"It's all good so far but we owe it to the viewers to ask 'How can we reposition this for the future? How can we keep surprising the viewer? How can we take something that is a great premise, filming people 24 hours a day, what can we do with it going forward?'
"I'd like to have that brave, big, bold, blue sky discussion with the makers of Big Brother.
"After this series is finished, we'll go 'In January it starts again, what could we do that'll make us leaders?'"
He declared: "Big Brother has been the number 1 reality show for 17 years, I do not want to be second, I want to keep being a leader in terms of reality."
Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother will air next year on Channel 5.
