The Celebrity Big Brother 2016 housemates were left in as much shock as us when Christopher Biggins was removed from the house yesterday.
Emma Willis confirmed that Biggins had been ejected from the show in last night's live eviction and told viewers: "Biggins has been removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house. His departure and all of the events in the lead up to it can be seen in the highlights of tomorrow's show tomorrow night."
In scenes to be aired this evening, Biggins' ejection leaves the housemates stunned.
Grant Bovey, who was evicted yesterday evening, told press after his exit: "Biggins had control over the house. Everyone looked up to him. I don't know who can fill those shoes now he's not there..."
He added: "I don't think somebody like James Whale could hold court the way that Biggins could.
"Basically, the house is going to go to pot. There is no natural leader now."
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Biggins left after making an 'offensive joke'.
A statement from Channel 5 said: “Big Brother has taken the decision to remove Christopher Biggins from the Celebrity Big Brother house.
"Since entering Big Brother, he has made a number of comments capable of causing great offence to housemates and the viewing public."
They added: "Big Brother does not tolerate offensive language capable of causing widespread offence. Christopher Biggins has left the house.”
Christopher Biggins' agent Jonathan Shalit added in a statement: "I've been close friends and worked with Biggins for many years and can confirm that he would never intentionally cause offence.
"If something was said in jest which caused offence then I am certain that was not his intention.
"Biggins is a much loved and wonderful man."
Celebrity Big Brother airs tonight on Channel 5.
