Alex Cannon remains the one to beat on Big Brother 2016 although Dubliner Hughie Maughan has emerged as a potential rival.
After an explosive couple of days in the Big Brother house that saw four housemates breakout, three return, two 'new' arrivals and two 'evicted', there has been an overhaul in the betting.
Irish housemate Hughie has emerged as the dark horse in the race for the title, despite remaining part of ‘The Others’ in the second house. Hughie was initially an outside 20/1 shot to win but has since gained legions of fans that haven’t been shy in backing the Dubliner to win. Punters took out on Friday resulting in traders cutting Hughie in to 8/1 from 20/1, but they haven’t eased up just yet seeing him shorten further into 6/1.
Alex and Jackson Blyton are now part of ‘The Others’ after being evicted and lumped into the reject house. The duo were chosen for their popularity which shines in the betting as Alex is the 7/2 favourite to win and Jackson is the 5/1 second favourite.
However all three of the guys being Others currently can't actually win the show and will need to win Housemate status to do so.
Georgina may have lost two of her close pals in the house in Alex and Jackson, but she has her fans outside of the house that have backed her in from 12/1 to 9/1 to win, currently the favourite of the actual Housemates.
Old foes Sam and Ryan were reunited on Friday when Ryan left ‘The Others’ and entered the main house. Their reunion doesn’t bode well for hairdresser Sam’s odds of winning as he drifted out to 20/1 from 14/1 as a result.
Aoife Heffron from BoyleSports said: “Big Brother has got off to an explosive start which has rumbled the betting, seeing the majority of housemates feature in the lower end of the market, varying from 20/1 to 50/1 in price. One housemate who has benefitted from the recent drama is Dubliner Hughie who is now a firm contender for the title after a barrage of bets.”
She added “Hughie has become the one to watch and a big liability for BoyleSports after avid fans of the Irishman came out to show their support with some punters so certain that the title is his they have placed bets as big as €100 on him.”
