Alex Cannon is the early favourite to win Big Brother 2016 following last night's live launch.

Tuesday night saw us introduced to a total of 18 contestants who could end up as this year's champion.

In the main house are 12 housemates, made up of Marco Pierre White Jr, son of the famous celebrity chef, twins Emma and Victoria Jensen, former journalist Andy West and Northern lass Laura Carter.

Then there's Alex, star of MTV's Judge Geordie alongside Vicky Pattison, plus another MTV star, The Valleys' Lateysha Grace.

Joining them are Aussie Evelyn Ellis, hair stylist Sam Giffen and currently unemployed after moving back to the UK from the States, Georgina Leigh Cantwell.

Rounding up the housemates are property developer and movie body double Jason Burrill, former model Jackson Blyton and self-made millionaire entrepreneur Chelsea Singh.

However they aren't alone as currently living in secret in a whole second house are The Others, who are fighting for their spot in the main house to become a Housemate.

They are made up of X Factor reject Ryan Ruckledge who currently works as a Energy broker and 53-year-old former dominatrix Natalie Rowe.

Also among The Others are private investigator Jayne Connery, Dubliner Hughie Maughan, dancer Charlie Doherty and kick boxer Andrew Tate.

After the first day, Alex is the early favourite to win Big Brother this year according to bookies Ladbrokes.

He's the one to beat at this stage with odds of 5/1, followed closely in the betting by Jackson at 11/2.

Andy and Jason share odds of 8/1 apiece, whilst it's 14/1 before the first females enter the frame thanks to twins Emma and Victoria. Unfortunately for Laura she finds herself as the rank outsider of the pack at 33/1 with just 8 bets to her name.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "It's early days but punters are clamouring over Alex and have forced the model into Big Brother favouritism."

Big Brother continues nightly on Channel 5.
