John Partridge has confessed he didn't ever want to end up on Celebrity Big Brother.
Before entering the show the West End and EastEnders star revealed how he had only signed up to help pay for his mum's Alzheimer's care.
Now in a chat with the Manchester Evening News, John insisted he was "not ashamed" of taking part in last month's series but said it wasn't something he would have chosen to do.
“I look at everything as a job. I’m a working, jobbing actor. I was paid to do something and I had a contract to fulfill," he explained. “It was something I had to do to look after my mum and pay her medical bills.
“Would I have chosen to appear on a show like that? Probably not.
“Sometimes we have to do things to take care of the people we love.
“I’m not ashamed of it.”
John, currently appearing in a UK tour of Chicago, went on: “It was not easy but I knew what I was doing it for.
“There was no way I could walk out.
“I’ve moved on and I don’t regret it because I provided my mum with the care she desperately needs."
John's appearance in the house saw him leave to BOOS from the live crowd in the final (where he finished sixth) but the reaction from the audience never bothered him.
“Nothing is real about reality TV and I’m not traumatised," John claimed. “It’s a pantomime and there’s nobody in that house who are arch enemies.”
