The music producer and TV personality, thought to be being paid £600,000 for his appearance on the show, has been ill inside the house for the past week.
On last night's latest highlights episode he was seen resting in Big Brother's spare bedroom away from the other housemates for the second time this series.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 revealed this morning: "Due to medical reasons, David Gest has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House."
They added: "His exit will appear in tonight’s show on Channel 5 at 9pm."
No further details have been given on what exactly is wrong with David although he has been allowed to sit a number of tasks and days out to try and get better. We wish him a speed recovery!
From what we are currently aware, tomorrow's latest eviction - which sees John Partridge, Kristina Rihanoff, Tiffany Pollard and Danniella Westbrrook - will go ahead as planned as another celebrity is given the boot live on Channel 5 by Emma Willis.
David is the second of this year's celebs to quit after Jonathan Cheban left the series after less than a week.
He quit last Monday night after having enough of fighting in the house and complaining about claustrophobia, later saying: "I feel like I came to my end of the rope here. The house is turning and I don’t want to stay for that second part of it. I just think that, I tried to entertain the gang in there and laugh and no one is laughing anymore."
And in last night's show, Angie Bowie also tried to leave after packing her bags and demanding a car home in the Diary Room.
You can catch the latest from the Celebrity Big Brother house, including David's exit and the reaction from the other housemates on tonight's show at 9PM on Channel 5.
