Big Brother 2015 ratings: New series launches to lowest viewing figures ever

Emma Willis

The Big Brother 2015 launch show opened to its worst viewing figures ever.

Last night's launch show was the first to air in May since the move to Channel 5 in 2011 and the earliest launch EVER in the history of the series altogether.

And in another Big Brother first, the housemates were revealed before the launch with the 16 contestants unveiled at the weekend.

However the gimmick - along with a shock launch night eviction - didn't quite work to win viewers.

An average of less than 2 million (1.8 million) tuned in to last night's show between 9PM to 11PM making it the lowest launch night in BBUK history.

Rylan Clark's Bit On The Side straight after then dipped to below 1 million viewers as he went over the launch night drama with a celebrity panel, including Helen Wood and Katie Price.

While the opening figures aren't great, with many weeks to go things can turn around and have done in previous years.
