UPDATE: the Big Brother 2015 start date has now been confirmed for May 12.
The Big Brother 2015 start date is reportedly being set up for the middle of May.
The new series is tipped to launch on May 14 this year, according to the Daily Star newspaper (via Big Blagger), having been pushed back from the first week of May.
The tabloid claims that Big Brother was originally set to start on May 7 however Channel 5 apparently "forgot" that this was the date of the 2015 General Election.
In a wise move, bosses have decided to delay the return of the show to our tellys for an extra seven days.
Any launch in May would be make the start date the earliest in years while a May 14 launch would be the earliest in the show's fifteen year history.
It's understood that the earlier launch is part of a plan to introduce a bigger gap between the summer runs of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother which have gone almost back-to-back on Channel 5.
The move would allow around three weeks between the end of Big Brother and start of CBB.
However as yet there's been no official word from Channel 5 on when Big Brother starts on TV.
If the series does begin in the first half of May then we should expect to know by the end of the next week.
Last month, Channel 5 announced that it had renewed the rights to the format for a further three years.
It means there will be at least NINE more series with C5 playing some £40 million a year for the show.
