Big Brother 2014 winner Helen Wood was biggest outsider in show history

Big Brother Summer 2014

Helen Wood won the Big Brother 2014 final last night despite being the biggest outsider in show history.

The outspoken salon owner defeated the odds, winning the show despite being given just a 33/1 shot before the final week.

Only in the past 24 hours did her odds come down, but she was still as long as 3/1 to win ahead of the live show.

Helen's win hasn't only upset a lot of viewers, it's left the bookies quite out of pocket too, hitting bookmakers Ladbrokes with a payout of over £100,000 while one loyal fan is rewarded with a windfall of £25,000 following a £1,000 bet struck in a shop in Manchester at 25/1.

The bookies don't believe the win will act as a springboard into further reality TV fame however, with 20/1 offered she goes straight into the Celebrity Big Brother house.

It's 5/1 she enters the I'm A Celebrity 2014 jungle and 50/1 she ends up on the Strictly dancefloor.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Ashleigh looked like a certainty for weeks but Helen has come through to upset the odds in style.

"Her loyal fans have been rewarded with plenty of hard cash too."

BB returns to Channel 5 next summer.
