Now magazine have stood by their interview with MC Harvey, who claimed he had been in a relationship with Girl’s Aloud star Cheryl Cole.
Chezza, who took to Twitter earlier in the week to rubbish the allegations, is now taking legal action against the magazine and Harvey, with her lawyers describing his claims as "pure fiction"
But a spokesperson for Now magazine stuck by their story, printed in this week's issue.
They said: "We completely and wholeheartedly stand by our exclusive and refute any accusation that it contains untruths.
"Michael Harvey himself released a statement earlier this week standing by what he revealed in his interview in Now magazine.
"The article is not defamatory and was published in good faith - we will strongly defend it."
Harvey's spokesperson added: "Since the comments were published, Michael has felt that Miss Cole should not have publicly accused him or the magazine of publishing untruths, and in fact should have let this all blow over.
"As a result, Michael has been publicly criticised and condemned by Cheryl via Twitter and the tabloids, but the truth in the article remains the same. Michael feels he should back up these comments and allegations. However, he has no intention of doing so in the press or public domain."
