Saturday night saw the remaining 12 couples performing live for the fifth time this series.
And following last week’s latest shock elimination, where it was Dev Griffin who left Strictly Come Dancing, no one wanted to be in the bottom two in Sunday’s results.
Due to a prior work commitment, Bruno Tonioli didn’t appear on the panel this weekend and left the remaining three judges with a special guest judge.
The BBC recruited US actor Alfonso Ribeiro to replace Bruno for the week. The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air star previously won the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, in 2014.
On top was Saffron Barker with a series high of 38 points – including two tens – but at the bottom was David James scoring 16 points.
As always, the combined judges’ scores from Saturday’s dances were used to help determine the bottom two dancers along with the results of the public vote.
In Sunday’s results show (October 20), the two celebrity couples who had to dance again were revealed as David James and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova and Mike Bushell and his partner Katya Jones.
After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts, with all four choosing to save Mike. Therefore, it was David who left Strictly Come Dancing this week.
