Alesha Dixon replaces Mel B on America’s Got Talent: The Champions

Alesha Dixon is to join season 2 of America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

The current Britain’s Got Talent judge – who is appearing on the UK Champions spin-off – will replace Mel B on the American panel.

She’ll join returning judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel together with host Terry Crews.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions first aired on TV in the States – and on Netflix here in the UK – earlier in 2019.

The special season featured acts from Got Talent series across the world, competing together to be crowned the ultimate champion.

Magician Shin Lim was crowned the winner of the first season and now a second is due to air in 2020.

It comes as the first Britain’s’ Got Talent: The Champions series airs here in the UK on Saturday nights on ITV.

Alongside both Simon and Alesha, Amanda Holden and David Walliams make up the panel with Ant and Dec as hosts.

The series comprises of five heats and a grand final

In each of the heats, nine acts will face off with two making it through to the grand finale. One will be chosen via the golden buzzer by either the judges or hosts while the second is voted through by the arena audience.

After four weeks, the acts through to the final so far are Ukrainian sand artist Kseniya Simonova, American daredevil duo Bello and Annaliese Nock, German dog act Alexa Lauenburger, dancers MerseyGirls, dancers Paddy and Nico, illusionist Darcy Oake, American comedian Preacher Lawson and dance duo Stavros Flatley.

This weekend’s fifth and final heat will sees the return of the musical theatre singing group Collabro who won the show in 2014; sword swallower Alex Magala, dancers Twist and Pulse, former golden buzzer winning comedian Daliso Chaponda, magician Ben Hart and singing duo Bars and Melody.

Completing the line up are American comedian Vicki Barbolak dance group DMX Comvaleñoz from the Philippines and vocalist Gennady Tkachenko-Papizh from Georgia’s Got Talent.
