The Circle 2019 results see shock first exit as catfish James is exposed

The first contestant has left The Circle 2019 in this week’s results – and it was a dramatic outcome.

Back on Channel 4 for a second series, in The Circle, players live in separate flats in an apartment block and communicate with each other through a voice activated social media platform called The Circle.

Up for to £100k is on offer for the winner, so the stakes are high. In the game where anyone can be anyone, who will win The Circle?

The players can be whoever they want on their Circle profiles, as they are hidden behind the screen. They can choose to hide certain things, change their identity entirely or simply be themselves. And because the players can’t see each or hear other, there is plenty of opportunity for gameplay.

This week saw the first eight contestants of The Circle 2019 revealed as they joined The Circle and set up their profiles.

Then came the first ranking, as each contestant had to rate their fellow players based on nothing more than one another’s profiles.

Here’s how the rankings went…

As the top two rated players, James (playing as single mum Sammie) and Tim became influencers and had the power to decide which other contestant to block.

They opted to block Emelle Smith who became the first player blocked from The Circle, leaving the game.

“She was my biggest threat in there and at the end of the day, it’s a game,” reasoned James privately.

However, that wasn’t the end of the episode.

Before leaving The Circle, Emelle got the chance to finally meet one player face to face for the first time, choosing single mum Sammie.

Entering Sammie’s apartment, Emelle got a shock as Sammie was instead revealed to be James.

“It’s nothing personal,” James told Emelle after blocking her from The Circle.

She saw the funny side of things though and the pair appeared to hit it off before a “gutted” Emelle left the show for good.

“He’s playing his game well, hat’s off to him,” Emelle said.

After Emelle’s exit, The Circle introduced new contestant Richard Madeley.

The TV presenter is appearing as a Celebrity catfish, under the control of viewers.

Fans had the chance to pick Richard’s profile, choosing a new identity for Richard as 27-year-old Judy.

The Circle 2019 airs Monday-Friday and Sunday nights at 10PM on Channel 4.
