Strictly has traditionally avoided signing reality stars for its line up.

But Craig reckons it’s “important to be inclusive” and welcome everyone to the dancefloor.

He said: “I don’t know if Love Island stars will be on Strictly in the future, but I hope so.

“I think now that is the craze, YouTube and reality TV stars are coming to the forefront, I think you have to be prepared for that.”

The Strictly judge added to The Sun newspaper: “You have to keep it classy, you want to keep it social, and it is important to be inclusive – that’s my kind of thing.”

While the BBC series has yet to sign a Love Islander, the 2019 series will see its second YouTube vlogger with Saffron Barker following in the footsteps of last year’s finalist Joe Sugg.

Craig said: “I am glad that the BBC are doing that with people on YouTube because it is inclusive.

“These people have millions and millions of followers, and it is a brilliant thing to invite them into the Strictly bubble.”

Saffron will be dancing with AJ Pritchard on Strictly Come Dancing this year.

Their fellow Strictly Come Dancing 2019 couples include James Cracknell OBE & Luba Mushtuk, Karim Zeroual & Amy Dowden, Chris Ramsey & Karen Clifton and David James & Nadiya Bychkova.

They’re joined by Viscountess Emma Weymouth & Aljaž Škorjanec, Anneka Rice & Kevin Clifton, and Alex Scott MBE & Neil Jones.

Also on this year’s line up are Emma Barton & Anton Du Beke, Catherine Tyldesley & Johannes Radebe and Michelle Visage & Giovanni Pernice.

Completing the fifteen couples for 2019 are Will Bayley MBE & Janette Manrara, Mike Bushell & Katya Jones, Dev Griffin & Dianne Buswell and late addition, Kelvin Fletcher who dances with Oti Mabuse.
