Britain's Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle has been revealed as the UK's richest reality star, with a worth of around £18 million. The 50-year-old singer tops the list, complied by Now magazine, beating former X Factor UK and USA judge Cheryl Cole into second place.
Scottish-born Susan Boyle rose to fame in 2009 on the third series of Britain's Got Talent, and despite not winning the competition, has gone to become a global superstar. Her debut album ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ sold more than nine million copies worldwide, and with book and movie deals it's easy to see how she's built up such a fortune in just two years.
Second on the list is Cheryl Cole, who has amassed £13 million since her rise to fame in 2002 on Popstars: The Rivals. 7 years with Girls Aloud, modelling contracts, L'Oreal deals and of course appearances on both The X Factor UK and USA have seen the Geordie singer go from having almost nothing to living the life of a multi-millionaire.
Another early reality show winner, Will Young, is third on the list, having made £8 million from his five albums alone. Acting roles and other deals have seen the Pop Idol winner's worth valued at £12.5 million.
Fourth is Katie Price, with autobiographies and reality shows resulting in the 33-year-old's empire being worth around £12 million.
X Factor stars Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and JLS are also all in the top 10, at 5, 9 and 10 respectively.
Just missing out on a Top 10 placing are Cheryl Cole's Girls Aloud bandmates, with Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding placing at 11, 12 and 13 respectively. Nadine Coyle meanwhile is a little further down the list, at 18 with her £4.8 million fortune.
Jedward have managed to make just over £3.75 millions since their appearance on The X Factor back in 2009, with a £1 million Celebrity Big Brother deal topping up their back balance aged just 19.
And on the topic of Celebrity Big Brother, the show's new host Brian Dowling places at 27, with a fortune estimated to be around £2.5 million.
Other reality stars in the top 50 include The Apprentice 2007's Katie Hopkins, Big Brother's Imogen Thomas and Masterchef winner Matt Follas.
