Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions continued on ITV tonight, seeing acts from the past 13 years of BGT go head to head with acts from across the world.

The first five weeks will see a series of heats with nine acts competing for two spots in the grand final each Saturday night.

This weekend’s second heat results (September 7) saw German dog act Alexa Lauenburger and dancers MerseyGirls.

They join last week’s first heat winners, Ukrainian sand performance artist Kseniya Simonova and daredevil duo Bello and Annaliese Nock.

Each week, one of the judges – Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams – or hosts Ant and Dec send their favourite act straight to the final by pressing the Golden Buzzer.

This week it was Ant and Dec’s turn, and it was Alexa Lauenburger who earned their backing. 11-year-old Alexa left Ant and Dec stunned with her eight dogs, Jenny, Sabrina, Nala, Sally, Maya, Specky, Katy and Emma.

The remaining acts faced an audience vote which saw dance group Mersey Girls win the second place in the final.

They beat Italian musician Antonio Sorgentone and ventriloquist Paul Zerdin in the audience vote, with the two acts ranking in third and second places respectively.

Other acts on this weekend’s show included the first comedian to ever win BGT, Lost Voice Guy, series 5 winner, singer Jai McDowall, choir 100 Voices of Gospel and acrobatic duo Gao Lin & Liu Xin.

They were joined by America’s Got Talent’s daredevil duo Deadly Games.

Another nine acts will go head to head in next Saturday’s third heat.
