The performer, who first rose to fame on American Idol, is set to join as a fourth dance captain.

According to The Sun, he’ll appear alongside returning captains Cheryl, Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse when the show returns to BBC One in 2020.

A source shared: “At one point it looked like Matthew’s schedule might mean he wouldn’t return then bosses decided they wanted to add a fourth captain.

“They were really impressed with Todrick and decided to tweak the format slightly.”

Todrick has a host of credits on stage, screen and online. Boasting over 3 million YouTube subscribers, he’s also a regular guest on RuPaul’s Drag Race and has appeared on Broadway and the West End in Kinky Boots and Chicago.

Filming for The Greatest Dancer 2020 auditions will take place this weekend.

In The Greatest Dancer auditions, dance acts perform in front of a giant two-way mirror which the audience can see through.

As the act performs, the audience watch on from behind the mirror and use their voting pad if they like what they see.

If more than 75% of the audience likes an act, they will win their way through to the next round.

Offering up expert opinion and mentoring teams of dancers after the audition stages will be The Greatest Dancer dance captains.

Meanwhile, the show is hosted by Jordan Banjo and Alesha Dixon who are also both expected to be back.

The Greatest Dancer is made for the BBC by Syco and Thames TV, makers of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

Announcing news of the second series earlier this year, Nigel Hall, Global Head of Television for Syco Entertainment, said: “The Greatest Dancer is a joyous, uplifting and exciting show. We have loved making this first series.

“We are absolutely delighted the programme will return to screens on BBC One in 2020 – and are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with the BBC.”
