Sherif Lanre won't take part in ITV2's Love Island reunion show this weekend, it's been reported.

Islander Sherif left the show after just nine days.

ITV said in a statement that Sherif had "mutually agreed" with producers to withdraw from the show after "breaking the villa rules".

It was revealed this week that Sherif will not appear in Sunday night's reunion show.

"Sherif is gutted. He was really looking forward to having the chance to reunite with the other islanders who became his friends during the villa," said a source to The Sun newspaper. "Its hard to fathom why they wouldn't want him as he was so popular during his short stint on the show.

"He made a mistake and apologised, so why he is still be punished is hard to fathom."

A rep for Sherif commented to the newspaper: "It would have been nice for Sherif to see his friends at the reunion its a shame ITV feel this strongly against him attending"

And a spokeswoman for Love Island said in a short statement: "Sherif left this series of Love Island by mutual agreement after breaking the rules and there are no plans for him to appear at this weekend’s Aftersun Reunion."

Sherif himself added in an interview: "They are saying that because my contract has ended I am not required to go. But I want to go so I don't see how 'not required' means that I am banned.

"I didn't get a chance to say goodbye when I had to leave and I was looking forward to seeing the friends I made in the villa.

"The reunion would have been my one chance to see some of them this summer. Several of them have said they would see me there. The situation is upsetting."

Love Island: The Reunion airs Sunday, August 4 at 9PM with a 90-minute special featuring this year's Islanders, minus Sherif.

ITV2 teased of the upcoming special: "If your Love Island withdrawal is getting too much to bare then fear not - Love Island: The Reunion is back.

"Join Caroline Flack, Iain Stirling and all the Islanders from 2019 live in the studio. Are they still together? Is love still on the cards? And have any dumped Islanders been secretly hooking up? Find out for a party like no other."

It was Greg & Amber who won love Island 2019 on Monday night beating Tommy Fury & Molly-Mae Hague Ovie Soko & India Reynolds and Curtis Pritchard & Maura Higgins in the live final.
