Catherine Tyldesley CONFIRMED for Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line up

Catherine Tyldesley is the fifth celebrity contestant confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 line up.

Strictly will be back on BBC One this autumn with what will be its 17th series.

Today the BBC has confirmed the latest celebrities, with contestant number five Catherine Tyldesley.

Catherine is an actress, best known for playing Eva Price on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2011 to 2018.

Recently Catherine also starred in the Channel 5 series 15 Days and has finished filming the new six-part comedy series Scarborough, written by the creator of long-running sitcom Benidorm, coming soon to BBC One. She also played the lead role of Iris Moss in BBC drama Lilies and has further credits in Holby City, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Sorted, Florence Nightingale Red Riding, Shameless and Trollied.

Catherine said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. I’m a huge fan of the show. It’ll be my biggest challenge to date as I’m not much of a dancer, but I’ve always wanted to learn the skill and the time feels right!

“I’m nervous as hell but super excited to work with such talented professionals. Hold onto your jazz shoes… mine is sure to be a bumpy/clumsy/fun ride!”

Also confirmed for the line up today was social media star Saffron Barker.

The YouTuber said: “I am really excited to go on the Strictly journey and am feeling very grateful for the opportunity!”

The first trio of celebrities were confirmed on Wednesday night during an appearance on The One Show.

They are England international goalkeeper David James, comedian Chris Ramsey and EastEnders Emma Barton.

The remaining celebrity contestants joining the new series will be announced in due course.

Rumoured Strictly Come Dancing 2019 celebrity contestants include Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, BBC sports presenter Mike Bushell, TV legend Anneka Rice, Made In Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin.

Also linked to the show are footballer Alex Scott, plus RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, Olympic rower James Cracknell, model Vogue Williams and football manager Sam Allardyce.

Strictly Come Dancing will start in September on BBC One.

This year’s series will welcome new judge Motsi Mabuse, who takes over from Darcey Bussell on the panel.
