Love Island may ditch Casa Amor villa in favour of ‘bigger’ twists this year

Love Island could ditch its iconic Casa Amor villa twist for 2019.

The ITV2 series has regularly featured the second villa, using it to put relationships on the show to the test.

Despite all of the drama it created, it may not be back for this year’s series.

Instead show bosses are said to be planning new and bigger twists to keep Islanders “on their toes”.

A source shared to The Sun newspaper: “Casa Amor was the ultimate test for islanders in their new romances – and viewers were left on the edge of their seats as producers teased potential betrayals and heartbreak.

“But after two years there are concerns the rival villa won’t have the same impact and that new islanders who’ve watched the show will see it coming.”

However the insider added that no decisions had been made just yet.

They explained: “It all depends what happens when the series starts – there’s still a possibility Casa Amor will be used but at the moment producers aren’t certain.”

The Casa Amor twist sees the couples split up in two separate villas before welcoming new groups of men and women.

After a number of days, each of the original Islanders must decide to stay with who they were originally coupled up with or couple with one of the newbies.

When the two villas reunite, anyone left single finds themselves eliminated.

The new series of Love Island is expected to begin very soon on ITV2.

Although the channel has yet to officially confirm when the fifth season will begin on TV, it’s rumoured to all kick off on Monday, June 3.

Caroline Flack will be returning to host and narrator Iain Stirling will also be back.
