The former England boss is said to be in talks to sign up for this year’s main series or the Christmas special.

Allardyce, who recently took part in the Celebrity Apprentice on BBC One, is said to have met show bosses this month.

“He met TV executives this week in a hotel bar,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail newspaper.

They explained: “They assured him that the show’s edited so that no one comes across as a terrible dancer, mentioning Katie Piper as someone who was not ‘a natural’ but who got the public behind her.

“They were talking to him about the Christmas special but emphasised that they want him on a whole series, rather than just a one-off.”

Also recently rumoured for the upcoming cast is Blue Peter’s Radzi Chinyanganya.

Radzi has been hosting ever popular kids TV show Blue Peter since 2013 but will front his final show later this month (April).

According to The Sun, a spell inside the Strictly ballroom could be his next telly project.

“Bosses are really keen to get Radzi on board. He’s really well loved within the BBC and has a lot of potential,” an insider told the tabloid, suggesting that Radzi could have similar success to fellow BBC presenter Stacey Dooley, who won last year’s series.

More names rumoured for Strictly Come Dancing are Rylan Clark-Neal, Tamara Ecclestone and Chris Evans.

Popstars Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton have also both been tipped for this year’s show, together with billionaire heiress Tamara Ecclestone.
