Gemma Collins topped the vote in the first week but dropped to 6th in Week 6 where she found herself in the skate off and was eliminated.

Following his victory on Sunday, James took to Twitter to thank viewers for their votes.

He wrote: "Thank you all SO much for all the amazing messages and support for myself and @AlexandraLukasz To win @dancingonice has been a massive highlight in my life I’m also so pleased for Alex to finally lift that trophy. I still can’t believe we won 🏆"

James' pro skating partner Alexandra Schauman added: "I’m beyond overwhelmed with all the love and support you have shown myself and @The_JamesJordan throughout the whole series!!! ❤️❤️We could not have done it without you so massive thank you to each one of you!!!! 🙌🙌🙌 "

DOI hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield made the announcement in tonight's live final of the latest run.

Dancing On Ice originally ran between 2006 and 2014, hosted by Philip, Holly and later Christine Bleakley.

After a four-year break, the show returned in 2018 to big ratings that were matched by this year's series.

So it's no surprise to learn that a brand new celebrity cast will be taking to the ice next year.
