Amber rose to fame on ITV2’s Love Island in 2017.

She’s now making a name for herself on the West End with a starring role in Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5 Musical.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Amber admitted that she was worried about being taken seriously after appearing on Love Island.

“I had a lot to prove and, yes, I feared having sex on TV could have a negative impact on my acting career. My aim has been for people to stop thinking of me as Amber from Love Island,” she said.

Amber went on to reveal her ambitions weren’t limited to the stage.

“One of my goals is Broadway but I’m only 22 and Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’m also interested in TV work,” she explained. “I’m interested in other musicals and there’s reality shows I want to tick off, like Dancing On Ice and Strictly.

“But I value what I’ve got. I appreciate what Love Island did for me. It gave me a wake-up and I’ve had to grow up. I’ve clued up.”

The performer added that in the wake of Love Island she turned down big money offers to focus on her long-term career.

“It would have been easy to make money fast. We’ve turned down offers for stuff that was easy money but wasn’t right for the long term,” she said. “That’s sometimes hard to do — but I’m giving this everything.”

Amber’s appearance in 9 To 5 The Musical will be documented in one-off reality show Amber and Dolly: 9 to 5 on ITVBe at 9PM on Wednesday, 27 February.

As well as featuring Dolly Parton herself, the one off special will also feature appearances from Amber’s co stars Louise Redknapp and Brian Conley, both of whom will perform alongside Amber in the musical at the Savoy Theatre in January 2019.
