Nicole Dennis has been installed as the VERY early favourite to win The Voice UK 2019.
Saturday night saw the new series of The Voice return as coaches Jennifer Hudson, Olly Murs, Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones took their seats back in the spinning red chairs.
Once more they’re on the hunt for the UK’s next vocal sensation with blind auditions kicking off at the weekend.
Following the first set of performances, Nicole Dennis is the early favourite to win The Voice UK after the North Londoner blew the judges away with her powerful rendition of ‘Never Enough’. Three of the four judges turned but it was Jennifer Hudson who inevitably won her on her team after the pair performed a duet to J-Hud’s track ‘And I Am Telling You’.
The 24-year-old – who is currently singing on the West End in Dreamgirls – is now the one to beat at 3/1.
Another notable audition from the first instalment of the news series was that from Peter Donegan, who sang his version of Rascal Flatts ‘Bless The Broken Road’. Unbeknownst to Tom Jones when he turned for Peter, but his father was in fact British musician Lonnie Donegan who wrote Jones’ ‘Never Gonna Fall In Love Again’, which the pair then performed.
Joining Tom’s team Peter went into the betting as a 14/1 shot to win.
Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented: “Its early days on the Voice UK but we got to see exactly what Nicole Dennis could do during her blind audition and impromptu duet with now coach J-Hud.
“She is the deserving 3/1 favourite and it is going to take another powerhouse to knock her off her perch at the head of the betting even at this early stage.”
