Naughty Noel Edmonds has come clean to his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates about using his black taxi cab in bus lanes to escape Bristol traffic.

Yesterday the ITV jungle show’s contestants were shocked when Emily Atack revealed she’s given up on driving after failing her test FIVE times.

“I started learning when I was 17 and took the tests over two to three years,” she said. “But I gave up in the end.

“Once I was practising parking in the drive but drove straight through the front door!

“I can’t grasp the concept of concentrating on more than one thing at a time. There is so much to think about with driving.”

Her story led Noel to spill the beans on his own dodgy motoring scandal.

The telly legend caused controversy in 2009 when, at the height of Deal or No Deal’s popularity, pictures showed him driving his unlicensed black cab in bus lanes.

At the time, reports suggested he pulled the stunt to cut the time he spent travelling between his home and Deal’s studios in Bristol.

He told the other campmates how the drama began after his wife Liz gave him the vehicle.

“Bristol’s traffic is chaotic, so Liz bought me a black cab and I got to work in 20 minutes rather than an hour and 20 minutes,” he explained.

“I can claim to be the person that cost Bristol Council a huge amount of money. When it hit the news that I was going down the bus lanes in my black cab, they put cameras on all the lanes.”

James McVey joked that the people of Bristol wouldn’t be happy that Noel caused their taxes to increase.

Noel then told how he even used a dummy to put off would-be passengers.

“I used to have a mannequin in the back called Candice, because when it was wet and I pulled up at the lights people tried to get in,” he said.

“I reckoned I saved five months of my life when I added up the hours in the morning and evening.”

Nowadays, Noel prefers a different mode of public transport.

“When I got the ticket, I didn’t take my cab in the bus lane any more. I did what any sane person would do: I bought a Routemaster bus,” he smirked.

“I can drive it on a car licence as long as there are no more than nine people on board.”

I’m A Celebrity 2018 airs nightly at 9.00pm on ITV, followed by Extra Camp on ITV2.
