I’m A Celebrity 2018 jungle camp ‘under threat from bush fires’

ITV bosses reportedly face the possibility of having to evacuate the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestants after bush fires broke out near the show’s camp.

Up to 200 wildfires have broken out across Queensland in Australia following record high temperatures in the region.

The “unpredcented” conditions have been rated “catastrophic” by authorities, with the heatwave expected to last until at least Tuesday.

Now I’m A Celebrity chiefs are concerned that the fires could spread to I’m A Celebrity’s filming location in Dungay, New South Wales.

The closest blaze is said to be just 60 kilometres from the famous camp where celebs including Noel Edmonds and John Barrowman are living.

The Mirror reports that ITV is keeping a close eye on the situation, with emergency plans in place should an evacuation become necessary.

A show source told the newspaper: “We speak to the fire services regularly and we are also monitoring the bushfires today in Oxenford and Wongawallan.

“There is no immediate danger but the safety and the welfare of our cast and crew is our number one concern.

“We will continue to watch how the fires develop. We are really hoping they don’t get any closer to camp.”

The show’s last evacuation occurred in 2015, when the camp was battered by torrential rain, thunder and lightning.

Contestants were moved to the Bush Telegraph hut until the extreme weather had passed.

The current series has just passed its halfway point, with the final due to take place a week on Sunday.
